Cora L. Faulkner, 85, a 60 year Wenatchee resident, passed away at her home on Thursday morning, April 23, 2015, following a recent illness.

She was born on February 16, 1930 at Ruff, WA to the late Ben and Bertha (Hoefner) Schmidt. One of eight children she was raised and Ruff and here she started elementary school. When the family moved to Cashmere, she continued her schooling and graduated, Class of 1949. Her first employer was the towns packing sheds and then in Wenatchee at the Woolworths store. Cora met Joe Faulkner and they married in Dryden, WA on August 5, 1955. They made their home in Wenatchee and it is here that they raised their three children; Anita, Teresa and Gary.

Cora, a stay at home mother, loved to attend her children’s activities, games and matches. In her spare time she sewed, crochet and embroidered, many of which became valued heirlooms treasures. The hunt for additions to her Depression glass collection gave her much enjoyment.

She was a longtime member of the Christian Scientist Church in Wenatchee,

Cora is preceded in death by her parents; and three siblings, Hollis Schmidt, Nora Phillips and Vernon Schmidt.

Cora is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joe; children, Anita Bischoff, Teresa (Andy) Wilder, and Gary Faulkner, all of Wenatchee; siblings, Vera Long, Bellingham, Hope (Don) Chamberlain, Yakima, Harry (Jean) Schmidt, Cashmere, Larry Schmidt, Cashmere; six grandchildren, Jesse Allen, Spokane Valley, Beau Allen, Spokane Valley, Heather Lewis, Issaquah, Greg Wilder, East Wenatchee, Whitney Faulkner, Olympia, Hannah Faulkner, Olympia and four great grandchildren, Adin Allen, Spokane Valley, Vanessa and Gibson Lewis, Issaquah and Carson Wilder, East Wenatchee.
