Mary Nelle Thompson, 92, of Hope, formerly of Morrilton, died at Heather Manor Nursing Home on May 4, 2015. She was born to Calvin Adam and Laura Brown Black on September 18, 1922, in Aplin, Arkansas. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Hope and a former member of First Baptist Church, Morrilton, where she was the church secretary for many years, loving and caring for many pastors, youth directors and church members. She was very active in the Womens' Missionary Union, led the Mission Friends group, and taught Sunday School. Along with her husband and others, she helped start the First Baptist Church of Center Ridge, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Guy N. Thompson, her parents, two brothers, Fay Tom and Calvin Black, and five sisters, Beatrice Williams, Edith Purser, Velma Young, Ruth Tucker, and Peggy Hirschey. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, a sister, and two sisters-in-law.
