Ivah Marie Johnson was born on October 14, 1933, in Garner, Iowa, the daughter of Ben and Adeline (Goodman) Hull. Ivah attended and graduated from Garner High School. She furthered her education at Mercy College of Nursing earning her RN degree. She married Howard Johnson in 1955 and to this union 5 children were born. Ivah worked at Mercy Hospital, Mason City for 40 years. She was a loving, compassionate, and caring nurse whose patients were treated as though they were her own family.

She enjoyed her friends, reading, music, playing cards, scrabble, and dominos. What Ivah enjoyed more than anything else was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They were truly the joy of her life. Ivah had many friends and was loved by all who were lucky enough to know her. She had a gift that made each person that she came across, feel special.

Ivah was a very active member of St. James Catholic Church in Forest City.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jean Balough of Mason City, Shannon (John) Determan of Hudson WI, Virginia (John) Monson of Forest City, Michael Johnson of Emmons, MN, Polly (Mike) Abrams of Northwood, IA; nine grandchildren, Casey (Eric) Dusza, Sarah (Garrett) Caffee, Rachel (Matt) Determann, Megan (Nick) Monsen, Andrew Balough, Abby (Casey) Groher, Jacob Balough, Jazmayne Coleman Monson, and Lauren Abrams; seven great grandchildren, Montana, Gavin, Dylan, Hadyn, Liam, Madeline, and soon to arrive Abigail; sisters, Vivian McEldoon and Nellie (Bruce) Masten of Mason City; sisters in law, Maxine Hull of Mason City and Joann Hull of Waterloo; special cousin, Georgetta Penard of Turtle Lake, WI, many nieces, nephews and their families, extended family and so many dear friends.

She was greeted in heaven by her parents, Ben and Adeline Hull; brothers, Perry and Ivan; sisters, Greta and Iris and brother in law, Bob.
