Alan R. Hackbarth, 69, of Beatrice, died at the Beatrice Community Hospital on Saturday morning May 2, 2015. He was born September 13, 1945 at Beatrice.

He lived most of his life in Beatrice and worked at Hoover Universal for over 30 years in the maintenance department until his retirement in 2008.

He married Ardy Schierkolk on July 5, 1986 at St. John Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, woodworking and was an avid Oklahoma Sooner football fan.

Survivors include his wife Ardy of Beatrice; children Deb Langdale and husband Allen, Michael Roebke and wife Barb, Rhonda Erikson and husband Dan all of Beatrice; Ron Hackbarth and wife Shannon of Tampa, FL, Melinda Parrack and husband Brad of Washington, KS, Christina Wildman of Herrington KS. and Bode Hackbarth of Tampa, FL, brother Walter Hackbarth and wife Denita of Salt Lake City, UT and sister Jean Gunther of Beatrice; sister-in-law Phyllis Schierkolk of Fairbury; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bode and Maxine Hawkins Hackbarth, granddaughter Michaela Roebke, brother, Ronald Hackbarth and parents-in-law Herbert and Bertha Schierkolk.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday May 6, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Greg Gabriel and Pastor Myron Meyer officiating.

Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery of Diller.

A family prayer service will be at 9:45 A.M. in the chapel of the church. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with LaVern and Marilyn Dissmeyer in charge.

The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice until 9:00 P.M. Tuesday and then at the church one hour preceding the service on Wednesday.
