Mary Jane Pharris 'nee Franklin, was born in Allen County, Kansas. To William A. Franklin and Amanda J. Franklin 'nee Matthews. Her family moved to Lenapah, Cooweescoowee District, Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory.
At 15 years of age "1901" she ran off with Jonathan Asbury Farrell to Indepence, Montgomery County, Kansas. to get married. After which they returned to Indian Territory and settle in Alluwe. Mary Jane was disowned by her family for this. Sometime before the 1910 Census was taken, Jonathan Asbury Farrell left for unknown reasons.
In January of 1911 Mary Jane Farrell 'nee Franklin, again with to Indepence, Montgomey County, Kansas to Marry James Adams Phariss.
