Eileen Rogers Movitz, 83, of Holladay, died peacefully in her sleep on April 21, 2015 at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.

Born April 23, 1931 in Greeley, Colorado, she is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Hattie (Krhut) Rogers, of Kansas, and her late husband of fifty years, Richard Movitz, of Holladay.

Eileen was a homemaker for most of her adult life. In her early years, she traveled the world working as a flight attendant (then stewardess she would want you to know) for United Airlines after graduating from the University of Kansas School of Business, a rare accomplishment for women of that era. "Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!"

Though she was very proud of her time at KU, and always of their perennially successful basketball team, much of her efforts during those years centered around a desire to leave Kansas and go, well, anywhere but Kansas.

After living in New York City and Denver, she found her home in Salt Lake City. She never quite grasped the ability to tell the direction in the mountains she loved, which was a source of amusement for family and friends alike.

She and her husband, Richard, owned condos, and eventually, a home in Sun Valley, Idaho, where they spent as much time as possible throughout their life together, regardless of the season.

Eileen, her husband, and children spent countless days doing a variety of outdoor activities together which continue on as fond memories to this day.

Her interests to name but a few, included skiing, hiking, running marathons, fishing, gardening, and a love of traveling, something she regretted not being able to do in her later years.

Eileen, you are loved more than words can express. Your tough, often stubborn, attitude in the face of countless health and life challenges will live on as a model for all who knew you. We will remember your beauty, intelligence, advice, zest for life even in challenging times, and perhaps most of all; a fantastic sense of humor accompanied by a wonderful smile we will never forget. Thank you for touching all of our lives in such a profound way.

Eileen is survived by her three children: daughters, Marci (Jim) Willey and Tina (Roger) Ranney, and son, David (dog Sandy) Movitz; six grandchildren, April (Willey) Roberts, James Scott Willey, Michelle (Willey) Hightower, Jeffery David Willey (deceased), Asher Jacob Ranney, and Kelila Anne Ranney; and eight great-grandchildren, Haleigh Elizabeth Hodges, Madeline Kate Roberts, Claudia Marie Roberts, Clairissa Ann Roberts, Jyssica Sage Hightower, Ellison Asa Hightower, Jake Andrew Roberts, and Delannie Ruger Hightower. She is also survived by her four legged companion and sleeping partner, Sadie, a beautiful white standard poodle who will miss her mom very much.

A brief graveside ceremony will be held at the B'nai Israel Cemetery, which is part of the Salt Lake City Cemetery, on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. The plot sits roughly just above 4th Avenue in between Q and R street. She will be buried there next to her husband, Richard, and we invite all who wish to join us in her memory to do so at that time.
