In my mom's meticulous notes she had 1 Apr 1844 born in Gollhofen, Bayern (Bavaria), Germany. His Death Records gives 28 Apr 1834. I will leave this record here. He died in East Detroit.

Sep 2018 from cousin Dolores Demmer Gailey: 'Hi again Dolores, 1834 and 1844 are listed on his memorial page. Mom had 1844. But in his name area I placed 1834 that corresponds to his Death Record. All is good. I know the difference of the two brothers (Johann Leonard and Johanna George) "both being born in 1844"??!!. Momma got her records from....

And, even "Passengers to America"- give 1843, to add to the confusion!!!

"On the 1870 Census he is 26 which is another win for 1844. Censuses are taken in the summer
On the passenger list he was 8 in 1852
He was born in April so subtracting the age from these dates makes 1844 correct.
His death certificate is wrong. I have found many errors on death certificates because someone who is handy without records gives a date. I think that I would put 1844 on the front page, and put the 1835 here you had 1844 now.." DDG
