Hawley Lowe was the son of J. Hawley and Rachel Mariah (Russell) Lowe. He was born on the family farm in Delaware County, Iowa and moved with the family to Adair County, Missouri in 1859. On November 15, 1884 he married Josephine I. Abernathy in Adair County. They were the parents of four children, all born in Adair County, Missouri. Geneva Belle (later records show her as Isabelle Janervia) Lowe, born September 7, 1885; Nellie Anna Lowe Rutherford, born July 27, 1886 (she died 9/9/1956 in Spokane, no burial found); Harry Price Lowe, born February 2, 1889; and David Lee Lowe, born July 29, 1891. After Hawley's wife died in 1903, Hawley was living with his son David in Idaho. There is a record for a plot purchased by H. Lowe in the same section (18) of Sunset Hills Cemetery in Bozeman, Montana where Hawley's wife Josephine is buried. There is no headstone for either of them, but I believe Hawley was laid to rest next to or near his wife.
