Lewis F. Lyne served as a lst Lieut., Co. D, lst Regiment, Pa Militia of 1862 from Sept. 11 to 25, 1862. He became a member of First Presbyterian Church in 1862 and served as an officer. As a young man, Lyne learned the harness making trade and later conducted a hardware store on North Hanover street. For many years he was the secretary of the Agricultural Society as well as a director of the Carlisle Bank. He was remembered as a "kind man of few words, generous in nature, and a good citizen." He is buried in the Old Graveyard.
