Harry E. Merrill, 89, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 14, 2006, at Manor Care Dallastown. He was the husband of the late Hazel M. (Brown) Merrill. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, with the Rev. John L. Trout, pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, Glen Rock, officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens, Baltimore, Md. There will be no viewing. Mr. Merrill was born February 22, 1916, in Caney, Morgan County, Ky., a son of the late William and Callie (Kemplin) Merrill. He retired in 1976 as a Milk Pasteurizer for the former Koontz Creamery in Baltimore, Md., after over 17 years of employment. Prior to that he had been a coal miner in Kentucky for over 21 years. He leaves four sons, Gary Merrill of Altadena, Calif., Dick Merrill of Rotonda West, Fla., Paul Merrill of New Freedom, and Jerry Lanhan of Orlando, Fla.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 2600 Eastern Blvd., Suite 209, York, PA. 17402.
