Rev. Alice Mizell Chancey, 90, of Folkston, GA passed away April 25 at her daughter’s home in Athens, GA following a lengthy illness. She was born in Waycross, GA to the late James Jeffery Mizell and Laura Lillian Harris Mizell May 16, 1924. She retired in 2000 after being the pastor of numerous Methodist Churches in the area.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Marvin J, Chancey; 5-sisters: Mary Aldridge, Leila Aldridge, Lottie Freeman, Edna Hagin & Daisy Whaley; 3-brothers: Tom Mizell, Ernest Mizell, & Owen Mizell and a grandson: Jonathon Chancey.

She is survived by her son and his wife: Marvin and Linda Chancey; her daughter and her husband: JoAnn and Jimmy Phillips; a sister: Dorothy Jones; Sisters-In-Law: Nell Mizell & Polly Chancey; 5-Grandchildren: Tonia (Rick) Wansley, Dawn (Kyle) Scarborough, Caleb (Tasha) Chancey, Mary Alice (Marc) Gallant; 8-Great Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 2 at the Folkston United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends an hour prior to service. Re. Jack Varnell and Rev. Eddie Raul will officiate. Burial will follow in Sardis Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Homeland United Methodist Church or Folkston United Methodist Church.
