Thomas was a graduate of RJ Reynolds High School and he worked in the family business, Angelo Brothers Wholesale, until he retired in 2008. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Sons of Italy and the Moose Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Frances Angelo Daye and Margaret "Peggy" Angelo Dyer.
