Capt. Martin Fuller, 1st b. child of Dea. Thomas Fuller and Lydia Paige, b. of record June 6, 1780 at Hardwick, Mass. He d. Oct. 18, 1816 at Hardwick, VT per the town record. While he has no extant gravestone, the inscription on the gravestone of his wife directly infers he once had one.

On Mar. 3, 1807 of record at Hancock, NH, Martin m. Letitia Duncan, dau. of Dea. James Duncan and Jane Christie (q.v. Christy), b. of record Mar. 20, 1780 at Hancock. In her Hancock birth record her name is otherwise given as "Lettice." She d. Feb. 20, 1817 at Hardwick, VT. Their death entries in the original handwritten Hardwick, VT town record reads [TR 1:336]:

• Died Octr. 18th AD 1816 Martin Fuller aged 36 years 4 mo & 12 days, also-
Letitia Wife of Capt. Martin Fuller February 20th AD 1817 Æt. 36 years & 11 month[s].

Martin and Letitia had four children b. at Hardwick, VT. Each child's birth record gives Martin the initial "J" (not "T" per FHL transcribers) in front of Martin. The birth of the 4th child, son Hiram, was reported by Martin's brother Timothy Paige Fuller, with Timothy also giving brother Martin the initial of "J." Timothy was an attorney and subsequent Judge of Caledonia County, and his credentials provide credibility that Martin's full name was "J. Martin Fuller." What the "J" stood for has not been uncovered and thus not used in identifying Martin on the findagrave system.

The children of "J. Martin Fuller" and Letitia Duncan b. of record at Hardwick, VT are:

• i. Thomas James Duncan Fuller, his name embodying the names of both his paternal and maternal grandfathers, b. Mar. 17, 1808, d. Feb. 13, 1876 at Virginia (g.s.); m. 1) Elizabeth D. Titcomb, by whom he had son Maj. William Duncan Fuller, and 2) Jane "Jennie" Elizabeth Doolittle (g.s.), by whom he had namesake son Thomas James Duncan Fuller, Jr.

• ii. Lydia Jane Fuller, b. July 2, 1810, d. Dec. 7, 1844 at Cabot, VT (g.s.); m. Feb. 29, 1844 as his 2nd wife, Rev. Levi Huntoon Stone (g.s.), s. of Col. John Stone and Betsy Huntoon, b. May 19, 1829 at Cabot, VT. Despite the claim in print[*1] there is no known child of the marriage.

• iii. Mary Fuller, b. Jan. 13, 1813, d. Oct. 21, 1908 at Keene, NH (g.s.); m. as his 2nd wife Dec. 3, 1845 at Hancock, NH, Stearns Foster, s. of Samuel Foster and Lydia Stearns, b. Dec. 26, 1799 at Stoddard, NH. He d. Aug. 23, 1882 at Keene, NH (g.s.) Two children of the marriage.

• iv. Hiram Fuller, b. Oct. 22, 1815, d. Dec. 2, 1900 at Hancock, NH; m. Jan. 25, 1847 at Antrim, NH, Laurilla H. Cram, who was b. at Maine. Four identified children of the family.

Following the death of the parents, census data clearly indicates the four children were raised at Hardwick, VT by their uncle Timothy Paige Fuller and his wife Rebecca Duncan, the sister of deceased Letitia (Duncan) Fuller.

[*1] In the genealogical sketch of the Dea. James Duncan family in the 1886 History of Hancock, NH, it is claimed that Lydia Jane gave birth to a dau. who m. Wm. Bradford Barker. This claim was copied by Wm. H. Fuller in his 1914 volume regarding the descendants of Capt. [sic, Dr.] Matthew Fuller of Barnstable, Mass. The child involved, Harriet Coburn Stone, was the eldest child of Rev. Stone by his 1st wife Clarissa Osgood, b. Apr. 11, 1830 at Cabot, VT.
