Harry D. Brown, 86, of Hartford City, IN, passed away at 9:00 PM on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Lutheran Life Village in Kendallville, due to an illness. He was born on Saturday, September 8, 1928, in Jefferson Twp. Huntington Co. to the late Howard and Celia (Roberts) Brown. He married the love of his life, Lois Mae (Wamsley) Brown on Saturday, April 19, 1952 in Lancaster In. Harry was a 1946 graduate of Jefferson High School, Huntington Co. He was a resident of Hartford City for 58 years. He was a lifetime member of the Milliard-Brown American Legion Post 156 in Montpelier. Harry was one of the last deployed "Seagoing Cowboys" where he volunteered to tend livestock abroad the UNRRA relief ship Henry Dearborn. The livestock was shipped to war-devastated countries after World War II by the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration and the Heifer Project. Harry was called to service by the United States Army in Korea, where he was ranked as Sergeant, from 1952 until 1954. Harry was honored for his service in Korea, with a presentation of the Korean Was Service Medal. Harry, nick named "Brownie", retired in 1989 from the Shell Oil Company, where he was a driver for 30 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, boating, being at the lake, gardening, napping, and going out to eat. Survivors include: Wife - Lois Mae (Wamsley) Brown, Hartford City, IN.,Daughters- Kathy Brown-Berry,Hopewell, NJ. and Connie (Jim) Williams-Amos, Hudson, IN.,Grandson - Blaine (Mandy) Williams, South Milford, IN.,Granddaughter - Try An (Anthony) Mitzner, LaGrange, IN.,Grandson - David (Julie) Berry, Baltimore, MD.,Granddaughter - Jessica Berry, Washington, DC.,Great Grandchild - Johnathon Gage Williams and Great Grandchild - Harrison Tate Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Celia (Roberts) Brown, an Infant Brother, and Brother - C. Richard Brown.

A service to celebrate Harry’s life will be at Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home 203 N Matilda St. Warren,IN. at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 26, 2015 with the Pastor Jeff Wolheter officiating. Interment will follow in the Van Buren Cemetery in Van Buren.
