She was born on June 12, 1927, the daughter of the late Charles and Louise Hensley of Daleville, IN.
Phyllis attended Yorktown schools, graduating with the class of 1945. Following graduation she worked at Delco Remy in Anderson as a machine operator in Plants 4 and 10 and later as a production supervisor in Plant 10. She retired with over 30 years of service in 1977. Phyllis spent her time gardening, sewing, traveling and taking care of her grandchildren. She was a member of University Christian Church.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, Lloyd Conner of Yorktown; two sons, Wendell Conner (wife, Connie) of Anderson and Dale Conner (wife, Germayne) of Muncie; five grandchildren, Wendy Conner of Muncie, Mendy Foster (husband, Phil) of Indianapolis, Lt. John Conner (wife, Sara) of Milton, FL, Aaron Conner (wife, Sandy) of Daleville and Rebecca Fulton (husband, Mason) of Yorktown; six great-grandchildren; two step-great granddaughters; one sister, Veda Rector of Lynwood; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Opel Jester (Carl), Elvie Pierce (John), Madaleen Vermillion (Ernest) and Emma May Childs (Raymond); four brothers, Garland Hensley (Pauline), Clyde Hensley (Dorothy), Gilbert Hensley (Ada) Gerald Hensley (Gladys); and one granddaughter, Angela Conner.
Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 West Isanogel Road. Burial will follow at Hawk Cemetery.
Friends and family may call from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 West Isanogel Road or one hour prior to service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
