A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud for William E. “Bill” Borden, age 78, of St. Cloud and formerly of International Falls, who passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, April 17, 2015 at St. Benedict’s Senior Community. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Placement of the Urn will take place at Assumption Cemetery Columbarium in St. Cloud.
Family and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the Church in St. Cloud. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.
Bill was born October 19, 1936 in International Falls, Minnesota to William H. and Mabel (Gunther) Borden. He married Arleen Grandaw on November 16, 1957 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in International Falls. Bill worked for Boise Cascade for over 47 years. Bill and Arleen have been in the St. Cloud Community since 2010. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud and the Knights of Columbus Council #1540.
Bill enjoyed reading, playing cards, and watching sports. He especially loved all the time spent with his family.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Arleen; children, Patty (Doug) Grinsell of Sioux Falls SD, Bob (Mary) of Cloquet, Tony (Diane) of Minocqua, WI and Jason (Michelle) of Sartell; son-in-law, Bret (Nicole) Reuter of St. Cloud; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters Betty (James) Peterson, Janet (Melvin) Roesler both of International Falls; brother-in-law Dick Morris of DePere, WI and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; children, Barbara Reuter and Mary Jean Borden; great-grandchild, Elijah Grinsell; sister, Nancy Morris.
A Special Thank You to all the Staff at St. Benedict’s Senior Community and St. Cloud Hospital Hospice for all the care and support given to Bill and his family during this time.
