Marie Brothers Harrell, age 96, of Burgaw, died Jan. 11, 2009, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter. She was born April 3, 1912, in Pender County daughter of the late Sam and Leola Ramsey Brothers. She was also predeceased by her husband Everton Harrell in 1985. Marie was the eldest of 16 children. She is survived by brothers, Leonard Brothers and wife Margie of McLean VA, Dennis Brothers of Fairfax VA; sister Annette Brothers of Burgaw; sisters-in-law Dorothy Brothers of Falls Church VA, Betty Brothers of High Springs FL; and many, many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at Harrell’s Funeral Home chapel. Reverend Phillip Jones and Reverend Elbert Bradshaw will officiate. Burial will follow in the Burgaw Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. at Harrell’s Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to The Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 725 Wellington Ave., Wilmington, NC 28401.
