Leroy A. Dillon, age 80 years, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Monday, December 15, 2014 at his home. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hickory Chapel Church, or to Twin Lakes Hospice and may be left in care of the funeral home. Leroy Arnold Dillon was born February 6, 1934, the third child of Marion Jefferson and Mary (Arnold) Dillon, in Benton County, Missouri. He attended schools in the Lincoln area.

Leroy was known as a very hard worker. He worked various construction jobs, including laying water lines in Lincoln, construction of the Leeton School, and many highways, before being employed by Producers Exchange of Lincoln. He worked there full time for 39 years, and part-time after his official retirement, for a total of 50 years.

He married the love of his life, Sharon (Miller) on June 3, 1961. To this union two sons were born, Kenneth and Kyle Dillon. They had a home for foster children and were privileged to adopt one of the children, Nadine Soles. They made their home in Lincoln area before retiring and moving to Clinton in 2000.

Leroy was active in various community activities in the Lincoln area, the Chamber of Commerce, Optimist Club, served as board member for Lincoln R-2 School, The Lincoln Housing, and Lincoln Nursing Home. After moving to Clinton, he was a member of Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare Auxiliary, until his health failed him. He was also a volunteer of the Heartland Share Program in Clinton. He was an avid gardener, and loved having numerous flower beds in the yard. He could always be found outside doing various tasks.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. The grandchildren were the light of his life, especially in later years, when he had more time to enjoy them.

He was a member of the Hickory Chapel United Methodist Church.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Lester Delano, who died at 9 years of age, and two brother-in-law, Leonard Harms and Roy Laughinghouse.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon, of the home; 2 sons, Kenneth and Kyle Dillon of Clinton; daughter, Nadine Soles of LaMonte; 5 grandchildren, Matt, Amanda, Hannah and Abigail Dillon; Verla Johnson and 2 great-grandchildren, Alan James Buren and Robert Leroy Peterson; two brothers, Marion Lloyd Dillon and wife Pat of Raytown; Leo Dillon and wife Glenalee of Cole Camp; Gladys Harms of Lincoln; and Joyce Laughinghouse of Sedalia; other relatives and many friends.
