She grew up near Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln High School. On March 8, 1949, she was united in marriage to Leonard C. Harms in Warsaw, MO. Following their marriage they made their home in Kansas City where Gladys had worked for Swope Ridge Nursing Home, the Kansas City News Distribution Center and also Kindercare child care in Raytown, MO. In 1979, they moved to their home near Lincoln, MO.
Gladys was a member of the Lincoln United Methodist Church. She also had worked for the Lincoln Community Care Center. She enjoyed cooking and baking, was an avid reader and loved to crochet and flower gardening. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leonard, who died on February 22, 2007, and also three brothers, Lester Dillon, Lloyd Dillon and Leroy Dillon.
Gladys is survived by three children, Randy Harms of Lincoln, MO, Sharon Blaine of Stillwell, KS and Mary Harms of Lincoln, two grandchildren, Tammy Phillips and Jeanette Blain and two great-grandchildren, Seth and Garret Phillips, a brother, Leo Dillon of Cole Camp, MO and a sister, Joyce Laughinghouse of Sedalia, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services and interment will be Monday, July 17, 2017, at 11:00 A.M., at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Warsaw, MO. No visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Disease Foundation in care of the Davis-Miller Funeral Home. Arrangements under the direction of Davis-Miller Funeral Home, Lincoln, MO.
