Purcel DeWeerd, age 88, of Hudsonville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 15, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda DeWeerd; his son-in-law, Brad VanZanten; his brothers, sisters and their spouses, Hermina and Harvey VanRhee, Hazel DeWeerd, Edna DeWeerd, Jeanette DeWeerd, Merlin Cook, Lloyd Beyer.
He is survived by his children, Merle and Judy DeWeerd, Karen VanZanten, Del and Joan DeWeerd; his grandchildren, Greg and Kayla DeWeerd, Steven DeWeerd, Sarah and Dave Mullineaux, Matthew and Janika Van Zanten Daniel DeWeerd and fiancé Ana Bobbitt, Andrew DeWeerd, Valerie and Chuck Hughes; his great grandchildren, Luca VanZanten, Leoda DeWeerd, Shelby Bohrer; his siblings, Lewis and Lorraine DeWeerd, Elmer and Ann DeWeerd, Esther and Gradus Scholten, Henry and Kathleen DeWeerd, Arlene Cook, Carol and Ed Curths, Allen and Donna DeWeerd; his sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth Beyer, Roger and Faith Beyer.
He was a man of great faith and he valued his family and friends.
Funeral services for Purcel will be held on Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the Cornerstone United Reformed Church, 6442 36th Avenue, Hudsonville, MI 49426 with Rev. Philip Vos officiating. Interment Zutphen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the VanderLaan Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone United Reformed Church or the organization of your choice.
