Oil City Derrick, Tuesday, Oct 27 1970:
Mrs. Mary Lavina Goss, 83, of 1244 Otter St, died early Monday ay Hahn Air Force Base at Buchenbeuren, Germany, where she was visiting her daughter and son-in-law, Alice Gayle and Charles L. Warner. She had a stroke October 12. Daughter of Matthew Walker and Mary M. George Yingling, she was born May 23, 1887, in Emlenton.

She spent her early life and graduated from high school in Emlenton, lived in Siverly and worked in Oil City until her marriage. They spent the early part of their married life in the Niles area where he worked several oil leases. They came to Franklin in the early 1920's and she lived here since. She took an active interest in her church, family and home, was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Franklin, was one of the original members of the Crawford Sunday School Class and the Association of Presbyterian Women; was a member of Nursery Chapter 25, Order of Eastern Start, and the Senior Citizen's Group of YMCA.

On May 22, 1913 she married Charles H. Goss, who died August 15, 1960. Also deceased are three brothers and four sisters.

Surviving are a son, Charles E. Goss of Franklin; two daughters, Mrs. W. Blaine (Mary Belle) Emerson of Hinesville, GA, and Mrs. Charles L. (Alice Gayle) Warner of Buchenbeuren, Germany; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Fred (Twila) Malcolmson of Titusville, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 pm Sunday in the First United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Claude V. Ponting officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
