He was born in Daviess County to the late John L. and Mattie (Wagler) Yoder on June 20, 1918. He married Rosanna Stoll on Nov. 7, 1940, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 30, 2004.
William was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church. He served as a minister since 1948 and was a lifelong farmer.
He is survived by two sons, Ervin (Jean) Yoder of Odon and Alva (Clara) Yoder of Elnora; two daughters, Clara Mae (Kenny) Swartzentruber of Elnora and Beulah Yoder of Odon; grandchildren, Gwen (Cliff) Graber, Marlene (Marlin) Swartzentruber, Shannon (Darrin) Graber, Travis (Marsha) Yoder, Trent (Kristi) Swartzentruber, Chet (Marian) Swartzentruber and Charlotte (Josh) Messmer; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sarah McGuire of Montgomery;a sister-in-law, Lydia Ann Yoder of Montgomery; and brothers-in-law, Jonas Schrock of Elnora and David Wagler of Aylmer, Ontario, Canada.
William was preceded in death by his wife, Rosanna; son Paul Yoder; sisters Rachel Wagler, Leah Yoder, Mary Stoll, Ida Mae Wagler, Anna Schrock; and brothers, Joseph and Ben Yoder.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at First Mennonite Church in Montgomery. Burial will follow in Zion Amish-Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at First Mennonite Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant View Mennonite Church or the charity of your choice.
