Lloyd R. Dawson
MONTICELLO - Lloyd R. Dawson, 80, a former Chalmers and Monticello resident, died at 9:20 p.m. Monday in Rensselaer Care Center where he had lived for the past four years.
He was born July 24, 1903, in Wolcott to Charles and Emma Hughes Dawson. He was married in 1926 to Mabel A. DeMoss, who died in 1978.
Dawson retired after farming near Chalmers for 36 years. He was a member of the Monticello First Christian Church and was a 50-year member of the Wolcott Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are one son, Melvin K., Brook; one daughter, Donna Altman, Winamac; two brothers, Ray, Monticello, and Conrad, Pompano Beach, Fla.; one sister, Martha Schuman, Wolcott; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Three brothers and one sister preceded in death.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Wayne Markward officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Masonic services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Monticello Christian Church.
