Funeral services for William E. Appleby, 82, of Davenport will be held at 12:00 p.m. noon on Tuesday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary in Davenport. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Appleby passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Center, Davenport.

William Edward Appleby was born on December 11, 1932 in Ottumwa, IA, the son of Robert and Julia (Gharrett) Appleby. He graduated from Ottumwa High School. In 1952, William joined the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Metropolitan Medical Lab for 50 years prior to his retirement in 2008. William was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Davenport.

He is survived by two Daughters: Cathy (Larry) Phillips of Davenport, Anna (Crystal) Appleby of Cedar Rapids, IA; two Sons: David (Nancy) Appleby of Sherrard, IL, James Appleby of Summerton, SC; two Sisters: Evalyn VanZandbergen of Davenport, Ellen (Buck) Hedger of Viola, IL; 7 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Appleby.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Johns United Methodist Church.
