AMOS HOCKIN

Amos Hockin was born in Minot, North Dakota on 30 May 1902 and passed away at age 76 on 17 May 1979 in Alvin, Texas. He lived at home with his mother all of his life until she passed away in 1969. He then moved into the Alvin Convalescent Home in Alvin, Texas. He had a learning disability and was never able to move out to a better life. He worked hard all of his life as a laborer doing farm work and in the hay field. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Sophia Hockin of Alvin, Texas; three brothers, Nathan Hockin of Hitchcock, Texas, Joseph Hockin of Houston, Texas and Andrew Hockin an infant in La Lande, New Mexico; and one sister Esther Hockin of Houston, Texas. He is survived by two sisters, Ruth Kuhl of Dallas, Texas, and Mary Harrison of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. Funeral Services were held at the Church of the Nazarene in Alvin, Texas with Reverend Bob Brookins Officiating. Interment was at the Alvin Oak Park Cemetery.
