Houston – Louise Motley Lowry Earnest, 82, passed away April 9, 2015 at Fernbrooke Personal Care in Houston, MS. She was born October 6, 1932 in Houston, MS to Columbus Doss Lowry and Fannie Louise Motley Lowry. She married her husband, of 62 years, Earvin Joseph “E.J.” Earnest, Jr. on September 16, 1951. She worked with her husband for many years establishing their family farm. She taught elementary school for 28 years at Woodland, Houston, and Houlka schools. She loved fishing, farming, her many cats and her beloved dog “Sugar”. She loved her Ole Miss Rebels. Family and Faith were the center of her life. She was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church of Houston.

Funeral services will be Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Prospect United Methodist Church in Houston with Rev. Rex Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery in Houston.

Survivors include sons, Joe (Linda) Earnest of Avalon, MS, James (Easter) Earnest of Houston, Ed (Valerie) Earnest of Houston, and Jack (Anita) Earnest of Houston; sisters, JoAnn Houston of Jackson, MS and Elizabeth Mattox of Batesville; Grandchildren, Robert (Jenna Grace) Earnest, Richard Earnest, Stacey (Jonathan) Storey, Josh (Jana) Earnest, Jordan (Tyler) Morgan, Ben (Leslie) Earnest, Doss (Lauren) Earnest, and Carre (Andrew) Roberson; Great-Grandchildren, Greyson Storey, Holden Storey, Mary Countiss Roberson, and Ella Roberson; special friends, Daphna Shempert and Jessie Armstrong and all the staff at Fernbrooke Personal Care Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earvin Joseph “E.J.” Earnest, Jr.; her brother John Alfred Lowry; and her sister Rosemary Rhine.

Pallbearers are: Robert Earnest, Richard Earnest, Josh Earnest, Ben Earnest, Doss Earnest, Jonathan Storey, Andrew Roberson and Tyler Morgan.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Houston Funeral Home and Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 12:30 to the 2:00 PM service time at Prospect United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked for donations be made to Prospect Cemetery Fund, c/o Bruce Wofford, 1207 Hwy 8 East Houston, MS 38851
