Roberta J. Bliesener, 81, of Burlington, died at her home.
She was born to Dale D. and Edna Weinrich Gabeline. On November 18, 1947, she married Ronald G. Bliesener in Burlington. He died January 14, 2005.
Mrs. Bliesener worked as a telephone operator at The Hawk Eye prior to her marriage and then became a homemaker.
She was a 1942 graduate of Burlington High School. After her children went to school, she worked at Sunnyside School for 25 years, first as a teacher's aide, then as the secretary to the principal. She was a member of First United Church of Christ and King's Daughters. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, flowers (especially red roses), and red cardinal birds. She loved their cabin on the river.
Survivors include sons, Jerry Sr.(Deborah), Richard (Kay), and Robert, all of Burlington; six grandchildren, Joshua (Shelly) Lamb of Arizona, Jerry Jr.(Stacy) Bliesener, Rodney Bliesener, Krystal McNeil, Richie Bliesener all of Burlington, Rebecca (Charlie) Hansen of Galesburg, IL, ; eight great-grandchildren, Lauren & Gannon Lamb both of Arizona, Caitlin Bliesener, Blaine Bliesener, Kharisma Brockett all of Burlington, Michael Bliesener-Milan, Heath Milan, Hunter Hansen all of Galesburg, IL ; brother, Robert (Donna) Gabeline of Morning Sun; and sister, JoAnn (John) Waters of North Fork, California; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Ronald, she was preceded in death by one son Tom, her parents Dale and Edna and two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Jarvis and Mrs. Kathryn Hundt
The funeral was held at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. JudyAnn Morse officiating.
