DEATHS
Laura Virginia Shipman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Davis, and wife of Samuel Shipman of Seneca, died at her home in southwest Seneca Friday night, June 23rd at 6:00 o'clock. Laura Davis was born in Dawson county, Nebraska in 1874. She was married on April 14, 1896 at Hebron, Nebraska to Samuel Shipman. Many years ago the family moved from Edgar to Argentine, Kansas, and some seven years ago moved to the Seneca community where they have since resided. Early in life she became a Christian, uniting with the Methodist church in her girlhood. She was a good wife and mother and a true and faithful homemaker.
Mrs. Shipman had an attack of influenza some three years ago, which left after results from which she never fully recovered. Her health particularly failed in the last six months, though she was able to be up and around the house until the day of her death.
Mrs. Shipmans death is very sad-so sad in the parting with the four children, the oldest of whom is sixteen and the youngest six. They are Lenta, Richard, Zole Fern and Virginia.
She is also survived by the father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Davis and by fivce brothers and one sister. The brothers are J. G., Dr. E. L. , T. J., J. H., J. H. and A. E. Davis. The sister is Mrs. Alice Burst of Springfield, Mo. All of the brothers were here for the funeral except A. E. Davis of Chicago. Mrs. Burst was detained on the road and could not get here in time.
The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Congregational church, the pastor, Rev. A. R. Appleby conducted.
