Mrs. L. M. Davis
Sarah Frances Dawson was born in Chillcothe, Ohio, March 28, 1844 and died in Seneca, Kansas, lacking but twenty-two days of being eighty years of age. She was married in her native town to L. M. Davis. About fourteen years later they moved to Nebraska, settling near Edison in Furnace county. The remained in Nebraska for thirty years when they came to Kansas, settling in Nemaha county in 1904, since which time they occupied the present family home. Mrs. Davis was the mother of seven children, a daughter, Mrs. Shipman, and a son, Thomas, preceded the mother in death. In addition to her husband, the following children survive: Dr. J. G. Davis and F. I. Davis of Kansas City, Mrs. W. H. Brust of Springfield, Missouri, and Arthur Davis, Chicago. Mrs. Davis has been in poor health for a number of years, but the immediate cause of her death was an acute attack which preceded the death summons only forty-eight hours. She knew the time of her departure was at hand, but she feared no end. She had all her life, been a believer in Jesus Christ and died in the commendatory of the Methodist church of Seneca with which she and her husband had recently united.
Mrs. Davis was a good woman who found happiness in her home, a beloved wife and mother who has left behind memories in the hearts of her dear ones that will become increasingly precious with the passing years. Out of town relatives here for the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Eaton of Dawson, Nebraska and Felen L. Baker of Oxford, Nebraska and all the children.
