From about 1906 until his tragic suicide in 1929, Jesse (or J T as he was sometimes called) was in the livestock business on Marietta Street in Atlanta, Ga, with various companies including his own "Elder & Rice" and "J T Elder & Sons"-sons were Herbert Franklin and James Forrest.
