Mary was born in Alpharetta, Old Milton County, Georgia. She married Thomas Lackey December 17, 1884 and became a widow before 1891. At the time of her death she was the widow of Thomas Blodgett.

She was the daughter of Marshall C and Sarah Cassandra Ford Elder, the sister of J. W. (James W?), Robert John or John Robert, Emmie, Franklin O, and Jesse Thomas Elder.

The following obituary was published in The Atlanta Constitution, May 5, 1920:

BLODGETT -- The relatives and friends of Mrs. Mary C. Blodgett, Miss Jessie Blodgett, Mr. J. T. Elder are invited to attend the funeral of Mrs. Mary C. Blodgett today (Wednesday), May 5, 1920, at 10 a.m. from the residence, 196 Oakland avenue. The Rev. R. A. Edmondson will officiate. The interment will be at Mt. Pisgah, near Alpharetta. The following gentlemen will please act as pallbearers and meet at the residence at 9:45 o'clock: T. J. Lokey, J. R. Morrow, E. D. Penn. E. L. Mabry, H. H. McFarland and W. H. Williams. H. M. Patterson & Son, morticians.
