He was born Dec. 21, 1914, at Six Mile Run, the son of Bill and Della (Graffito's) Hastings. On March 10, 1936, he was united in marriage to Pearl H. Roarabaugh at Six Mile Run.
Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Hazel Marie) Taylor, Chelsea, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Lori; and the following sisters and brother: Mrs. Edna Chamberlain, Coalmont; Mrs. Fred (Lillian) Snyder, Mrs. Emma Kersee, Mrs. Frank (Maxine) Husk, Mrs. Colleen Keagy, all of Six Mile Run; Mrs. Kenneth (Grace) Watkins and Delbert Baker, both of Baltimore, Md. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Hastings was a member of the First Church of God, Six Mile Run, where he served on the Church Council. He was a past commander of the American Legion at Six Mile Run and a former member of the Coaldale Borough Council. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army.
During his life, he was a coal miner and construction worker, and was last employed with Cooper Lumber Co. in Hopewell.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 14, at 2 p.m., at the Masood Funeral Chapel in Saxton. The Rev. Herbert Stauffer and the Rev. Alton Foor will officiate and interment will be in Duvall Cemetery, Six Mile Run.
Friends may call at the Funeral Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and until the hour of service on Thursday.
It has been requested that memorial contributions be sent to the First Church f God Mission Fund, Six Mile Run.
