..................Obituary, Italy(translated):
Died in America Umberto Carnera. He was the son of Primo[former world heavy weight boxing champion-c1933].
Mourning in the Carnera family. Umberto, son of the legendary Primo Carnera, the good giant who entered the boxing legend, died at age 68 in Florida, where he had lived for almost half a century. He moved there in the 1960s to complete his medical studies: in America he graduated and practiced his profession. Because of his stay in the States, in 1967, he could not be present at the death of his father, of whom he had always kept a memory of love and admiration. "From my father - he had said years ago on the occasion of a return to Sequals - I keep a great teaching above all: do not surrender to difficulties, always fight with courage and get up again after every momentary defeat".
Umberto Carnera, not inclined to appear, to show off, had always been very active in supporting any initiative dedicated to the memory of the unforgettable Friulian boxer. His great concern was that every celebration organized over the years would serve to truly honor the figure and memory of the great athlete of Sequals. A discreet commitment, his, but extremely effective, so much so that it was he himself, Umberto Carnera, the first promoter of the foundation named after his father, established in 2000 to help the students in difficulty in their studies.
To turn off the energy of Umberto Carnera was a heart disease that had prevented him, in recent years, to return to Italy and had also forced him to give up the shooting of the recent film 'Carnera, The Walking Mountain'(2008), in what was expected of a brief appearance.(source: ricerca.gelocal.it)
