AGE: 86 • Union Beach

Edith Baratta, 86, of Union Beach, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 3, 2015. Edith was born on January 9, 1929 in Jersey City, where she grew up and lived for the majority of her life.

In 2001, she settled in Union Beach. Throughout her life, Edith worked as a secretary for Colgate/Palmolive Company. After 37 years of dedicated service, she retired in 1984. Edith also had a great love for playing scrabble and spending time in Atlantic City.

She was predeceased by her parents, Amelio and Amerlinda (Minella) Baratta and her dear siblings, Philip Baratta and his wife June, Antoinette Caruso and her husband Gaetano, and Anna Baratta. Edith is survived by her loving nieces and nephews, Emily Quinn, Janet Burdsall and her husband Milt, Gail Meyer and her husband Willie, Guy Caruso and his wife Silvia, and Joseph Caruso. Edith is also survived by her cherished great nieces and nephews, Timmy, Billie, Gerard, Jason, Alexis and Emma, her adored great great niece Madeline, and her very special best friend, Josie Amato. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited visit on Wednesday morning, April 8 from 8:30am to 10:30am at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Rt. 35 N, Hazlet. Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, April 8, 11am at Holy Family R.C. Church, Union Beach. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, N. Arlington.
