Before 1891, Amelia married her first husband, William Jasper Black. He was two years younger and what the local papers would later refer to as a 'not well known member of the community', in compare to the Nance family. Between the two of them they had two daughters, Martha and Montizella.
Following a dispute with her husband, her brother murdered him. After a trial where he was found 'not guilty', Amelia and her brother's family (not including Martha and Montizella) ran away to Texas. With her past behind her, and her children abandoned, Amelia met and fell in love with a man that was ten years older than her - John W. Rolled.
In the second act of her life Amelia lived peacefully with her husband and went on to have five more children - Irma, Eva, Haley, Lucy, and Johnny, whom joined their step siblings from John's previous marriage.
When she finally passed at 77 years old, she was not returned and buried in Garrison like her family members and first husband, but buried in Texas without her husband in Fairview Cemetary.
While there are so many questions about Amelia's life, she is remembered and valued and loved for all she did in life. Rest in peace.
