Mary Jane Bowlds, 83, of Owensboro, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015, at Hermitage Care and Rehab Center. She was born on Sept. 17, 1931, in Daviess County to the late Enus Ray Allen and Edna Mae Pendleton Allen. She worked for many years in the lunchroom for the Owensboro Board of Education.

She was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church.
She enjoyed singing in the church choir. She never met a stranger and always had a smile and kind words. She loved to laugh and have a good time with her family. She had a deep faith and was very blessed with God’s graces.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Beth Murphy; two sisters, Mildred Scott and Margie Kennedy.

She is survived by her husband, Charles R. Bowlds; her children, Michael Bowlds, Catherine (Terry) Riney, and Jennifer Lee (Donnie) Patton all of Owensboro; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; a brother, Leon Allen of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Catholic Church with the Rev. Tony Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Haley McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
