Nick was born in Zagwozdz, Stanislawow, Poland. He married Anna Troszko there in 1902. Anna died shortly after and they had no living children. Nick then married Katarina Augustyn on 22 Nov 1910 in Jezupol, Poland (now Yezupil, Ukraine). They immigrated to America in 1911, initially living in Rankin, PA, but shortly afterward moving to Mahoning County, OH. A son George was born there in 1913 but lived just two days. A daughter Helen was born there in 1914. Tragically, wife Katarina died there in either 1915 or early 1916, reasons unknown. Daughter Helen was placed in foster care with friends. In 1916 Nick married Anna Katza in Youngstown but Anna filed for divorce in 1920 claiming non support. Nick remained in Youngstown the remainder of his life, running his own watch repair store. He had a strained relationship with his daughter Helen, who went on to marry and have children. Nick died at age 73 in Youngstown on 29 Sept 1955 of prostate cancer while in South Side Hospital. He is buried alone in Mt Hope Cemetery.
