Obituary:
Mrs. Lulu, wife of Alfred Carothers, died at the home of her mother, Mrs. Sarah E. Briggs, on Upper Ridgley street, Orbisonia, shortly after midnight on Friday, after a lingering illness with typhoid fever, having contracted the disease in Altoona, where she and her husband resided. It is about a month since Mrs. Carothers was brought to the home of her mother and all that medical skill and loving hands could render was done to save the patient's life, but it seemed to be of no avail. Besides her husband, she is survived by a little son, her mother, two sisters and two brothers, viz.: Mrs. Charles Rowe, Turtle Creek; Mrs. Frank Wilson, Orbisonia; Charles Briggs, Rockhill, who is in a critical condition; I.O. Briggs, Oakmont, Allegheny county, and many other near and dear relatives who mourn her departure. The deceased was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and was held in high esteem by all who knew her. She was aged 21 years, 7 months and 18 days. Funeral services were conducted in the Orbisonia M.E. church on Sunday morning at 10:30 o'clock by her pastor, Rev. Vought, and they were largely attended. The interment was made in the Orbisonia cemetery. We extend, along with other friends, our heartfelt sympathy in this their darkest hour of grief and sadness.
