Philip Melanchthon Faris- Melanchthon is a saint of the church. Philip’s father, William Wallace, was reading to his mother, Isabella, before Philip was born. Evidently they had run out of names. This seemed to Isabella to be such a nice word. Philip served on the USS Chester on “The Great White Fleets” cruise around the world in 1909. In 1915 he married Vivian Hannah in Beebe Ark., where William Wallace (now a D.D. like his grandfather) was born. Paul Thomson Faris was born in Drexal Hills, Pa., Feb. 27, 1920. Upon their mother’s death the two boys came to live with Marion and Charles in Anna, Illinois. Upon the death of their father they were adopted by Marion and Charles.
