A Surprise birthday party was given for Mrs. Louisa HENDRICK on her 88th anniversary, at HEDRICK home near Crescent Mills, Sunday, 10 Apr.
Mrs HEDRICK crossed the plains in 1864, coming from Keokuck, IA, direct to the Indian Valley. She was a young woman 20 yrs of age when she & husband, with their 05 mo old dtr arrived in this section of California.
Though 88 yrs of age, Mrs. HEDRICK is still a very active woman, carrying on all the duties necessary to living on a ranch. She is the mother of 08 chr, 05 are living Mr. HEDRICK died in 1916.
The guests present included sons, dtrs, gr'chr & gt'gr'chr. She rec'd 40 greeting cards from relatives living in different parts of the U S, one coming from gt'gt'gt'dtr, one yr of age. She also rec'd a number of pretty gifts. A buffet luncheon was served.

Mrs Louisa HEDRICK died Monday night at the home of her son, Arthur HEDRICK near Crescent Mills. The funeral service was held in Crescent Mills, Wed pm, burial in Crescent Mills cem.
Mrs. HEDRICK was 90 yrs of age, and one of the early Indian Valley pioneers. She had been in feeble health for some time.
The HEDRICKS came here from Iowa in the early days. Her husband died several years ago.
Survivors include chr: Mrs Winona SMITH, Burns OR, Mrs Florence YOUNG of Taylorsville CA, Mrs Mabel LOQUIM of Sutter City CA, Mrs Gertrude BACHER & Arthur HEDRICk of Crescent Mills, as well as a number of gr'chr, gt'gd'chr and 01 gt'gt'grchild.
Preceding her are chr: Mrs Freda REAKER, Ms Cora HEDRICK & Orlando HEDRICK.
