MaryRose "Rosie Ann Weiland was born on June 19, 1931 to Leo & Dorothy (Knopik) Zilka, the youngest of 13 children. Rosie grew up and graduated from the St. Francis High School in Little Falls. She worked various jobs before attending nurses training at St. Mary's in Rochester and was employed in Minneapolis as an LPN.
On September 12, 1956 she was united in marriage to Donald Weiland at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg. After their marriage the couple made their home and raised their family by Elbow Lake. She was employed for a time at the Cenex stations in Alexandra, Hoffman and Starbuck.
Rosie enjoyed playing cards, including whist, bridge and poker. She also enjoyed entertaining at the lake where she taught numerous children, including her own, how to water ski. Retirement didn't stop her from caring for the many people while volunteering at the Barrett Care Center.
Survivors include her daughters, Sally (John) Rugroden of Blaine, and Sue (Scott) Holl of Hoffman; son, Terry Weiland of Spokane Valley, WA; sisters, Sister Serena Zilka of St. Paul and Dorothy (Ernest) Pierzina of Little Falls; brother, Placid Zilka of Melleray, IA; 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Don, son Anthony in 1997; 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
