Katherine R. Acton, 96, of Martinsville, passed from this life at 8:01 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. She was one of ten children born to the late Thomas L. and Effie May (Nash) Burns. Katherine was born in Brownsburg, Indiana, on October 21, 1918.

She graduated from Brownsburg High School and later attended beauty school. Katherine took pleasure in quilting and being active at the Martinsville Senior Center when she was able. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Martinsville.

She is survived by her step-son, Winfred Acton of Indiana; sister, Regina Parson of Speedway; several nieces and nephews and step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, General Lee Acton; one step son; two step daughters and eight brothers.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015 in Greenlawn Cemetery in Brownsburg, Indiana.
