Opal Osbourn, 102, daughter of John and Sarah Elizabeth Stottlemyre, was born Oct. 30 1903, at Dykes. She died May 18, 2006, at Kansas City, Kan., where she had lived for the last seven years with her daughter.
She married Moses Henry Burrell Osbourn June 6, 1923. They had one son and three daughters.
Mrs. Osbourn lived in Texas County most of her life, where she farmed with her husband and owned several businesses: the Fairview General Store, Dykes General Store, Chatterbox Cafe and the Bus Stop.
Her loves were her faith, family and flowers. She nurtured them with food, attention and tender loving care. She taught Sunday school for 35 years and voted a straight Democrat ticket for the last 70 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Dorman; and daughter, Iris Cohn Nichols.
Surviving are two daughters, Lois Kirkman of Houston and Marlys Casteel of Kansas City; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
