William Ross Adams Jr.,80, Middletown, died Tuesday March 24 at Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy. He was the husband of Barbara Sprankle Adams whom he married July 31, 1955.

Born in Middletown on July 16, 1934 he was a son of the late William Ross Sr. and Irene Wolfe Adams. He was a 1956 graduate of Middletown High School. Mr. Adams was employed with the State Highway Administration from 1960 until 1996 and retired as an inspector. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown where he served on the church council several different times; a life member of the Middletown Volunteer Fire Co.; member of Catoctin Fish and Game Club, Hyndman Senior Center and a life member of the NRA. He also maintained a home in Hyndman, PA

Surviving, besides his wife, are:

4 children - Sharon Hipkins and husband Nelson - Wolfsville; William E. Adams and wife Lynann - Hagerstown; Karen Sullivan husband Tom - Middletown ; Charles E. Adams and wife Nancy - Middletown

11 grandchildren - Katie Rudman (Sam); Joshua Sullivan (Anna); Matthew Adams; Seth Hipkins (Brittany); Juli Sullivan; Jaclyn Adams; Kimnie Adams, Emily Adams; David Sullivan, Michael Adams, Krista Sullivan

1 great-grandson - Colton Rudman

3 sisters - Barbara Angleberger and husband Tom; Frances Eaves and husband Eddie- both of Frederick; Debbie Crouse and husband Gary - Middletown

The family will receive friends on Friday March 27 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held 2 PM on Saturday March 28 from Zion Lutheran Church, 107 W. Main St., Middletown. Rev. Cris Frigm will officiate. Interment will be made in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Kline Hospice House or Middletown Volunteer Fire Co.
