Pioneers, Haagen & Marie Nelson, my Great Great Grandpa & Grandma on my Dad's Paternal Maternal side lived at Lanesboro, Filmore County, Minnesota 1874-1880...

In April 1882, they homesteaded north 1/2 of NE 1/4,, and north 1/2 of NW 1/4 in Norma township, Barnes County, Dakota Territory later becoming North Dakota.

They were one of the first homesteaders in Barnes County. He did blacksmith work in a dugout on the side of a hill on this land & also lived in the dugout until a house was built. They also donated property for a Cemetery and to build the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Fingal, North Dakota. Later sold to Simen Maasjo and Julia [daughter], my Great Grandma.
Haagen & Marie then moved to a farmstead near Eastedge, Barnes County, North Dakota.

Haagen Nelson, son of Niels Evensen and Johanne Halvorsdtr was born on 05 Nov 1839 in Fårlund, Østre Toten, Oppland, Norway. He died on 02 May 1925 in Fingal, North Dakota, USA. Haagen Nelson was baptized on 26 Dec 1839 in Faarlundeie, Østre Toten, Oppland, Norway.

Haagen married Marie Nilsdatter on 11 Jul 1863 in Østre Toten, Oppland, Norway. She was born on 15 Jul 1834 in Lille Aamodt, Østre Toten, Oppland, Norway (f. Nils Andersen). She died after Apr 1915.
