Edwin Thomas Meredith, widely known resident of Welsh Prairie, died at his home there on August 18, 1939, at the age of 78 years, 11 months, and 12 days. Mr. Meredith was born in the town of Lisbon, Juneau county, Wisconsin, on September 6, 1860. He spent his entire life in that township where he was prominently identified with farming and the welfare of that community.

On June 2, 1892, Miss Rose C. Krohmer, New Lisbon, was united in marriage to Mr. Meredith. She and the following children survive him; Mrs. Irwin Kelk, Tomah; Tom and Margaret Meredith, at home. A granddaughter also survives him.

Mr. Meredith was highly respected for his honesty, good judgment and his kindness to his family and friends. He was progressive in his views and a pioneer builder of the Welsh Prairie area.

Funeral services, which were very largely attended, were held at the home last Monday afternoon at two o'clock. The Rev. Otto McKegney, pastor of the Lone Rock Baptist church, officiated. Charles Macomber of this city sang two solos. He was accompanied by Mrs. Delos Meredith at the piano. Interment was made in the New Lisbon cemetery. C. M. Lamson directed the funeral.

Relatives from away who attended the funeral were: Mr. & Mrs. Irwin Kelk and daughter, of Tomah; Mrs. F. C. Krohmer and Mrs. Oscar Hanson, of Watertown; Mrs. Mary Haire, Mauston; Mrs. Ella Meredith, daughter Hattie, Mr. & Mrs. Delos Meredith, Mrs. Frieda Reynolds, Miss Louise Krohmer, George Reynolds, and Leon Price, of this city.
