YORK Anthony "Tony" Muel died of natural causes on his 100th birthday, March 20, 2015, at York Hospital.


Born March 20, 1915, in York, he was the son of the late Fredinado and Mary Carmela (Zambito) Mule. Tony was a partner in the Muel Brothers Partnership from 1949-1999. During that time, he was affiliated with the Hamilton Avenue Service Station, Rose Haven Tavern and the Partnership Holdings and Joint Business Venture. During WWII, he was a Sgt. in the 38th combat regiment and received an honorable discharge from the 550th Bae Unit of the U.S. Army Air Force, Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Tony was a life member of the following organizations: West York VFW Sumner Street Post, American Legion Post #127, Prince A.A., Viking Club, Loyal Order of the Moose, York Volunteer Fireman's Relief Association, BD Club, Royal Fire Company, Cooties #145 and Fraternal Order of Eagles.


Tony is survived by four sisters, Joanna Axe of Tampa, Fla., Josephine Coffaro of Tampa, Fla., Mary Flinchbaugh of York, and Carmen Jackson of Dover; a brother, Joseph of York; and five generations of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his companion, Evelyn Hoff of York; three brothers, Emanuel, Libourio and Richard, all of York; and a sister, Elizabeth Alfano of Tampa, Fla. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the love, kindness and care given to him by his staff of nine caregivers.


Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
