Ida Braune was quoted as saying "I am a true American" when she found out she was the first of Andreas Christian Braune's children to be born in America -- as per Edna (Voss) Vann, one of Ida's daughter. Word is that Ida was really born aboard ship "Hor Salen" but on her birth certificate/ baptismal/marriage records needed a "place" as being born so Texas was listed on these records. She buried along beside her beloved husband, Richard.
