William L. “Bill” Chinn, Sr., 70, of Meriden, died Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the Stormont-Vail Hospital Emergency Room. “Bill” was born March 7, 1945 at Lawrence, the son of Harry L. and Minnie Marie Sellers Chinn, Sr., He was a 1963 graduate of Lecompton High School. He worked at the Goodyear Tire Company in Topeka as an oiler, mechanic and welder for 34 years before medically retiring in 1997. He was a member of the United Rubber Workers Union Local # 307 and had attended the Rock Creek Bible Church.Bill was an avid Race fan and Mechanic. He enjoyed racing and being around the race game. He was married to Betty Lou Brunk and she survives at home in Meriden. He is also survived by two sons, William L. “Bill” Chinn, Jr. and wife, Dee, Topeka, William L. “Bill” Chinn, III and wife, Sara Jean, Topeka, one brother, Harry L. Chinn, Jr, Lawrence, two sisters, Dorothy Moore, McLouth, Donna Garner-Shughart, Meriden, and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Darlene Ayers and Doris Decker. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday at Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. The casket will remain closed. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence.
