He was united in marriage to Lillian Silverthorn in 1928, who preceded him in death May 8, 1956.
Mr. Chase was active in many civic activities. He was a member of the volunteer Firemen's Dept., in the era when horses were used. He belonged to the Odd Fellow's Lodge and was a Past Noble Grand of this lodge. One of his joys of living was working taking care of race horses. He spent many a day with Jim Leroy traveling with his horses to races, fairs and race tracks.
A few years ago Mr. Chase sold his home and became a resident of the Bethany Home in Alexandria where he died, Oct. 26, 1967 at the age of 92 years. He is survived by two sons and two daughters: Louis of Detroit Lakes; Horace of Oakland, Calif.; Catherine Ernst of Minneapolis; Doris Bliss of Dubuque, Iowa; also surviving are five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral services were held Oct. 28, 1967 from the Anderson Funeral Chapel, Alexandria, Minn., Rev. Carl W. Larson officiating. Interment was in Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria. Pallbearers were: Fred Quackenbush, Elmer Anderson, David Anderson, Marvin Hanson, Harry Halstead, Peter Robertson. Honorary pallbearers were James LeRoy, Fred Hohensee, Emil Shogren, Herman Shogren, Wm. McFarlane, Pete Hintzen.
